"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God."

On a beautiful November Saturday, Word Centered Fellowship held a Day in God’s Word at the Kate Jackson Center in Tampa’s Old Hyde Park. In Edna Race’s teaching, she encouraged us to “Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1) She showed us that Jesus Christ’s complete fulfilling of the Old Testament Law has secured absolute spiritual freedom for every Christian believer. Mary Powell exhorted us to heed God’s counsel and allow Him to direct our steps. We are to agree with His Word and carry it out in order to receive all the blessings He’s promised.

God’s Word was also taught at Children’s Fellowship for those of ages four through twelve. A special guest appearance was made by 3-week-old James Walker Furey. A casual “meet and greet” followed allowing people to welcome the newest addition to our fellowship.

The meeting room was transformed into a banquet hall where a wide variety of delicious foods and desserts were provided by those attending. Each table was graced with lovely and imaginative centerpieces crafted by each fellowship represented. Pat Powell challenged us to guess which fellowship made each particular centerpiece. Another great Day in God’s Word was thoroughly enjoyed by all who came.

A Day in God's Word could be "Everyday in God's Word " because that is how we should and need to be each day. Each day brings new challenges, whether large or small, into our lives and because we have God's Word we can meet those challenges prepared.

Our Day in God's Word is a fantastic day because we have the opportunity to spend a day with fellow believers and hear wonderful teachings of the Word. Plus afterward we all can "break bread" together and have some of the finest food prepared by the best cooks in three counties! We share dinner together and are able to enjoy a day of peace and joy with one another too.

Edna Race taught on how Christ has made us free, his accomplishments, the liberty we so enjoy, and how God's matchless Word has made us free today. Mary Powell taught on how the Word of God is the will of God and that His Word is not the word of men. It is not surprising that we absolutely need God's Word in order to grow stronger spirituality, and that it is indeed up to us to believe God's Word and to stand boldly and firmly upon that Word every day.

It was once again a great Day in God's Word filled with believing, love, and fellowship with like-minded believers! Thanks to all that assisted in set-up, food preparations, children's fellowships, teachings, etc., we were all very blessed indeed. God bless us, everyone!

I don’t know about you, but I’m always tempted to dance around (at least a little) when I sing fellowship songs. At children’s fellowship at the Day in God’s Word, I was with some likeminded friends. We opened fellowship with prayer, songs, and “devotion with motion” to the song “I believe God.” Then, we took some time to quiet down and pray together and hear from our Heavenly Father by way of the manifestations of the spirit.

After that, we heard Danielle Davis teach about how we came to have God’s written and revealed Word from II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:20 and 21, and Jeremiah 36. We learned from Jeremiah 36 that Jeremiah and Baruch followed God’s instructions to record His Word in a scroll and Jehoikim, the king, chose to cut and burn the scroll because he didn’t like or believe God’s Word. But, because the Words in the scroll were God’s Words and not man’s words, God gave Jeremiah and Baruch instruction to write the scroll again and add even more to it. After we learned the record, a surprise was in store.

The teaching ended and Annie, Julia, Jordan and I left the room to get in costume. We returned dressed as Jeremiah, Baruch, Jehudi, and Jehoiakim complete with fake beards, to perform a skit of the record we had just learned. Spoiler alert: God and His Word prevail at the end of Jeremiah 36.

When we wrapped up the first session of children’s fellowship, I was so thankful for the integrity of God’s Word and His faithfulness to His Word when it is believed, no matter how old you are. The manifestations of the spirit in children’s fellowship were meant for all of the ears in that room. I got to pray alongside a six year old who was praying and asking God to take care of his family. I was taught the Word sitting beside my 4 year old brother in Christ. What an honor it is to see these kids learn to stand on God's Word, little by little. I’m so glad I’m a part of this sweet family of God.

Each fellowship was asked to bring a centerpiece representative of their fellowship. The centerpieces were placed on the dinner tables. It was very fun seeing what each fellowship made and trying to guess who's was who's!

Can't wait until our next Day in God's Word!
