Doulos Development Fellowship
“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.”
On June 24th, Pat and Mary Powell hosted a Doulos Development fellowship in their home. Doulos Development is intended for young believers who are currently helping to run a fellowship. Pat taught on "Characteristics of a Christian Ministry" and Mary taught on "A Good Report". There was wonderful teaching of God's Word, great fellowship, and a delicious brunch!
"What It Means to Be A Doulos" by Mary Powell
In the King James version of God's Word, the Bible, the Greek word doulos is translated "servant" or "slave". Those two words don't have a very good connotation in our modern Western culture, but in the lands and times of the Bible being a doulos was an honorable position. According to God's Word, a doulos is one who has committed himself or herself to serve. And Who does a doulos serve? He serves his beloved Father, the one, true, God. A doulos serves because of the love God has for us and because God has freely made each of us a new creation in Christ. A doulos reverences God's Word and their foremost wish is to please God. A doulos serves with a willing mind and heart. "What can I do for you today Father?" is the question of his heart. A doulos knows he is God's son and he loves to walk every day with his Father.
